I'm not sure which method is best. But my bet is putting bighead on deck is better than embedded in epoxy close to the bottom.
I think i agree here.
Also possibly simpler to set up with bighead on deck.

I've decided to laminate the whole board before putting in bighead on deck side.
I'm going to sand down the area on the deck foam around each big head down 2mm. Then put all the carbon and glass on it. Creating a thick laminate under the bighead.
Then I'll glue in the big heads deck side, and add some glass patches over them.
The bighead will still be in an epoxy plug.
This way, if there are any problems with the insert like corrosion or stripping out, I can more easily extract it and replace.

What kind of structure might the very light pocket boards have ie. Anton for example claims that the 80cm board is 1,1kg!!! And it's not 20cm wide, but a normal one, 40+cm I believe. It looks very thin however which makes harder to create a stiff board.
Just curious how light board a DIY builder can build? I am looking for 100-110cm board as light as possible for travelling.

I'm making 90cmx46cm. My 120cm is 2,3 kg. So it'll be 1,75 kg is my guess.
For travelling that's plenty light. It needs to take a beating, even in a bag.
I'll be travelling with one Ozone bar, a Hyperlink 9m UL and 7m. My Boardshorts harness( is probably 500g lighter than my RE waist harness.) flotation vest, 2mm shortjohn.
Then a Moses 93cm mast and 633 wingset and fuselage. Small toolkit.
One Check-in. Bought a wheeled 37" hockey bag for it.
Carry-on for basic clothes. Helmet strapped on outside...

TomW,
those look really nice as always =)
Can you reveal what's the structure of the boards now and what core(cores) are you using, please?
