Woohoo! Jumped 15,7m on the woo last week with my 9m Chrono on 14m lines and Levitaz with long mast and Tachyon wing in very gusty winds on an inland lake. Smashing my old twintip record of 14,9m I jumped in a storm and now the wind was only gusting to 27kn max, jumps on film were around 12m according to the Woo.
Who else likes to boost big on an hydrofoil?
Ik am still searching for the best line lengt for boosting, since longer lines give you more hangtime and are easier with the landing but shorter lines give you much more control in the high-end so you can better time the takeoff.
Awesome jumps 14m lines seems interesting to try. How long have you been hydrofoiling?
I'm just starting to do bigger jumps on HF and getting used to the timing ... but to me it's exciting on another level compared to TT probably because of the speed factor.
I was riding on 9m ozone Enduro on 25m lines in 17 to 23kn this week and definitely going higher than I could on a TT with the same kite. Gotta work on the landings though
Today I was out on my Spotz 2 and Sonic 9m - 20 knots average. I didn't have a woo on but I'd imagine I was getting 10m+ at times. It's the first time I have REALLY tried to boost... it's funny when you get the timing wrong and leave the board in the water and go up with no board. You go REALLY high then!
Messed up takeoffs are indeed funny when you are thrown 10+ in the air with the foil still on the water.
Short lines are more for racing, but it seems you can get some decent air out of them. The jumps just feel very different from twintip jumps where you travel long distances and land with a lot of speed. Since you are going crazy upwind on the foil you get an almost vertical jump and land in the same spot sometimes.

Yep, this is the very reason why hydrofoils can jump much higher in medium/light winds than all other boards - they are so efficient in the lack of spray (take-off loss of power) and a much more efficient apparent wind as you can take off at a much higher upwind angle - when you ride you feel like you are out in MUCH more wind than you really are, crazy and awesome isnt it ?
So do you re-calibrate your Woo to account for your board's elevated level at takeoff? Or, maybe just do the math: 15 m on the Woo minus 76.2 cm mast = 14.238 m jump. I mean it's like you're boosting off a stool, right?
Only 6.1s hangtime, apparently you can't get great hangtime when you go straight up and down hoping you redirect the kite in time for some kind of landing on those short line.
Maybe i need to practice to keep more forward speed in the air or try to get high on longer lines.
the guys in my neck of the woods jump like crazy on foilboards.......in 10 knots around 30 feet 15 knots into the 40s and in 20+ knots 50 feet plus........it def seems to be the biggest jumper in under 30 knots!!!!
