Flysurfer Peak2 ?

Postby Peter_Frank » Mon Nov 07, 2016 8:09 pm

Hi - times has passed now, curious as to if anyone has used the 12m2 Peak2 ?

It was discussed earlier in another thread, and one or two had one, but not used it with their hydrofoils, only on land/snow.

The thought of a kite that can hang in extremely low wind - and if it goes down you are not in a hurry but can just pack it up and relaunch/dry on land easy without having water inside.

But the issue is, whether it is simply too bad regarding handling and turning (and feel) and lowend - or maybe it works great ?

Launching and packing down can be done in a split second :thumb:

Or maybe it will flutter and be a "sound" pita all the time ?

Very curious as well. When you give up water-lauch another world opens up.

I'm very happy with Ozone Summit as a mid aspect foil on water. The 10 is about 2080 grams.

If the peak has nice turning and adequate windward performance I would be interested.

A french rider is using one 12m with its hydrofoil and like it, loving how it hangs in the air and how fast he can prepare the kite on the beach. But admits the riding speed is significantly decreased. He liked the minimalist pack and compatibility for its Mountain board rides. I can try to recover and translate its review if you want.

Also keep in mind that Peak does not exist in light cloth (unfortunatelly) so light wind hang in the air is not really better than recent light foilkites (at least for the memory i have of the peak v1 9m I had 2 years ago, which was even more flat arched than v2).

I`ve to admit that I do really like, the Peak2 in 12qm on my Foil,
Until it I crash it on the water :D : D during training a new maneuver .

In my opinion almost the perfect kite for ME at the moment,
Awesome Lowend (same level, than 18m Dyno)
Good Highend, (can directly switch to 8M Tube) Hangtime okay, fast turning…
Vmax oder Upwind Ability is not so important for me.

What I like most, is that this fucking kite keeps in the air, longer than every other Kite I know, which makes it quit suitable for foiling, thus the only reason for watering will be yourself. The kite will normally never drops, because of too less wind, and if it drops, you will probably don`t manage it to start a closed cell Kite either, unless the wind will pick up again.
All in all,

A perfect Kite for a very fast and easy session near the beach, at low, or even higher wind (6m Peak) if you are not interest in high-performance Foil Kites…
Here´s my first try with it: https://www.instagram.com/p/BG7tyzxsiZU/?hl=de
However for most people obviously not the weapon of choice, due to missing relaunch ability, therefore I have now switched to the probably most similar LEI Kite which in my opinion is the BMR Cloud 12m, but it´s still a nice Fun Kite, suitable for foiling.
