It feels like Naish is getting beaten up and GoFoil is god lately.

I offer an alternative view of history, without any first hand knowledge.

Kai was instrumental in making GoFoil famous by showing what was possible. Working with Aguera. I think the wing was named after Kai.

Then aguera screwed them over when Starboard was allowed to sign some kind of exclusive deal, leaving Kai and Naish out in the cold.

Naish was forced to rebrand a liquid force foil to get by, while they built up their own in house foil designs. Now Naish has some really good foils.

I may be wrong, but this is how it all looked from an outsiders view. Not a fan of starboard or GoFoil because of this.

Your timeline does not match up Dwight. The LF rebranded Foil came out at Naish before the whole Surf Foil hype started.

I am pretty sure that Naish was never interested in bringing Alexs Foils to Market. There is no exclusive deal with Starboard as far as I know. Starboard can get SB branded Foils made and sell them though their network, but Go Foil has non SB dealers all around the world.

This press release in May 2016 is about when I recall Kai Lenny’s GoFoil logos were hidden on his downwind foiling runs.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ejbEAtkyefc

Shortly afterwords, GoFoil in the US, was pushed by Starboard reps and Starboard dealers seemed to be the only guys who had the foil.

At SurfExpo 2016 GoFoil was represented by Starboard. I was there and saw it.

But today, that is not the case. GoFoil has their own reps and the foils are in every shop, everywhere.

It would be fun to know what really happened from insiders.

Gunnar, you are just guessing.

Why is everything such a conflict? You cannot possibly say that GoFoil was first with anything. Surf foils existed for years before it.
You do not think different companies can work fine side by side? Maybe they tried to get a deal, but Aguera got a better deal somewhere else, and jumped on that so Naish built out their own competencies? It does not have to be dramatic and even filled with conflict. You clearly do not know the order of things so why not chill out?

I am not guessing. I am just saying how it is. I have been making surf foils since 2013 and have a pretty good overview of the whole industry and what goes on behind the curtain. Alex was the first to get the surf foil to work for normal people, that is also why he owns US patents on a few key features for these type of foils.

I do believe companies can work side by side quite well, and there are a a good few examples of that. However on the other side, there are a lot of brands that just have their riders ride other peoples stuff with their own stickers over it and claim to be pioneers.

I am involved in patents. Id be very interested in seeing some of these - can you list their numbers?

Looks like the only one out there is for Levitaz....generally to protect the way their fuse connects to the wing and mast....
