I now use RRD Passion MK9 kites for freeride on hydrofoil. They are hybrids of freeride and wave kites. They turn very fast, have a huge range of power, boost big in kiteloops but have almost no power when parking high. They’ve a very strong built and looks beautiful.

Derrico2,

Agree with you if you are going to TT. In 9m and under a 3 strut would work better with the TT.
I was going to get the North Neo but found these Monos on sale for 40-50% off. They cost about 450-600 Euro. Bought them one at a time over 18 month period, looking for the sales.

Thanks for the answer, I have seen the Mono flying many times , and some videos too. The only concern is because the price and it will replace my bigger vegas, unique kite for TT and Hydrofoil. It means using it :
60% foiling
30% TT with chops until 20 knots
10% wave session till 20 knots
for this mixed use I was oriented to a Light 3 strut kite.
Before the Mono was available, I bought the first existing single strut kite on the market : Airush One 2012 which is cheap when you can find one ; to me its design is very close to Mono, and even lighter. So it can be an idea if budget is an issue and can be replaced by patience...
I liked my 2012 Rally but prefered the One for its unbeatable hanging in low wind and agility, less backstalling.
Then if you are seeking for more speed on your foil, my prefered current LEI kite is Ocean Rodeo flite (3 struts but same weight and even lighter than the Mono I think). More confort on hydrofoil and better hangtime and forward traction for TT. Only its drift is not as good as One or Mono for surfing waves

I had 8 and 10 m 2012 rallys and didn't like them because they have very short sheeting trim on the bar. It's on-off in 10 cm. Super sensitive to sheeting.

Flights cost a lot of money, I'd buy some otherwise. I got 3 Monos for 1500 euros. That would get me 1 Flight and 20% of a second...

Mono's are great kites IMHO. Were they on end of year clear-out in Sweden?

I picked up the 2016 at certain times of year. The last year models are usually at 20-30% discount, then there's an occasional additional 20-30% special deals for a week or 2. Gotta keep your eye out. Plus I get ugly colors.

I'm rolling this quiver of ozones.

12 chrono great for light widns 6-12 knots. 12-16 knots boost factory
10 edge Awseome if I feel like speed but not too much power 12-16 knots. Shit house relaunch sub 10 knots. I have only ever had to swim in using this kite!!! As a result I usually go from 12 to 8
8 catalyst (2012) My go to kite for foiling 12-20 knots. Looking to replace this with an 8m enduro when I find one second hand
6 reo 20-25 knot awesome for the foil but sucks for jumps
4 uno. 25+ high wind foiling. sweet fa lift but a fast loopy kite that can be worked into some grin worthy situations.

I think a well reinforced mid aspect delta shape with consistent pull and progressive depower is best for freeride foiling in high winds.

Btw Plummet what line length are you running on your Reo 6m and Uno 4m? I really don't enjoy my Reo 6m for foiling it's awesome for strapless surfing but I think it's too on and off for foiling and its high speed generates massive power spikes through the wind window in transitions.

Same line length and bar for all lei's 50cm, 25m lines.

I don't find the power spike too bad. But I like small fast kites.
