My experience with Gong strutless started with the V1 models. I can not compare V2 to V3 as I never had the V2. As I mentioned the V3 has 6 attachments points to the leading edge pr. frontline. Further more you can attach a nylon “stringer” in the middle. Didn’t use the stringer yet, but guess it will keep the shape in upper wind range.

Hello,
I own the struttless 12m an 9m V2 from Gong. I foil often on very gusty lakes here in Germany. The Gongs don´t have the depower I need , so I´m often overpowerd with the 12m when its over 12 kt for example. I would like to know, if the V3 has more depower and does it go more upwind?
Cheers Vik

I checked the weight of the Gong strutless V3 10 meter kite Kite weight : 2,6kg + 90g fiberglass strut
That is not very light in comparison with the Ozone Alpha 10m2 which weight 2,2kg and Ultra 9m is 2,3kg. These kites have both one strut.

Another new Swiss kite is called Gin Angel. It doesn’t say anything about any review and weight. www.ginkites.com

Wierd. The strutless V2 was reported at 2.3kg on the Gong website (https://gongsupshop.com/epages/box1707. ... TRUTLESSV2)

Either thats a big underestimation(on the Gong site) or the new fabric is a lot heavier? Did you weigh it fresh out of the packaging or after use?

I weighed my Ozone Alpha kites straight out of the bag this week.
10mtr 2.12kg
12mtr 2.45kg
and they relaunch easier than any thing tried before, (and I tried a lot)

Hi Foil,

Would you say that the lighter kite has a better low-end range? Or are there other factors? I'm looking into the gong for <12/14 kts for foil board but also considering single strut kites.

Hi Foil,

Would you say that the lighter kite has a better low-end range? Or are there other factors? I'm looking into the gong for <12/14 kts for foil board but also considering single strut kites.
my Alpha12 weighs only 2.45 kg, it just hangs there in next to nothing.never had that before apart from my old foil kites. and the relaunch is well, you have to experience it to understand it, best bit of kit I have bought for light wind foiling

I had a set of North Mono kites from boardworx, I only kept them for around 3 weeks and swapped them for a set of Fone breeze kites which were slightly better.
but the Alpha kites are so much better for light winds.with silly easy relaunch,
the choice between the gong strutless 12mtr and the Alpha 12mtr was not easy for me to make before the Alpha purchase as I knew the gong could Hover like a foil kite, giving great low end and the Alpha was untried, but the safety aspect swung it for me and a leap of faith going for a untested kite,
Thankfully the Alpha is way better than I could have wished for, and the low end is amazing with hover that allows very slack lines without any sort of threats to tumble from the sky, and the added bonus of a massive upper range was a big surprise, I did not expect that, it sort of makes my 10 mtr Alpha redundant, as I can jump straight down to my 8mtr Reo if things get too much for the 12 Alpha.
its not often a blind kite purchase has ever worked for me before, I have bought some lemons in the past.
