Christmas day, how many at yours?

Postby Foil » Tue Dec 25, 2018 5:57 pm

I thought today (Christmas day at Flag beach on fuerterventura) would be a quiet affair, everyone at home singing Carrols and cooking for the family,
How wrong I was,
70 out which was quite mad, 4 foilers including me, lots of wave boards, but mostly twintips.
And they all brought the family with them, kids and granny's everywhere.
The sun was out, not a cloud in the sky, windy 6 MTR weather, dropping to 10 Mtr conditions later. Beach bar was open, kitsurfing school was fully booked.
Crazy thing for me to witness.
Last time I came away for Christmas was to somar bay in Egypt, that was deserted on Christmas day apart from from me and a few others.

There was at least 50 kiters out at Cabarete yesterday, but we all came here because it was cold at home in the US/Canada/EU and we wanted to kite in warn water for the holidays.

No wind at the local on Christmas, but the 24th was pretty nice. 2 guys at the spot when I got there, one newbie practicing on the beach, and some dude on a homemade windfoil cruising around. Spent about 90 mins in the water before the wind backed off.
