Expecting stormy weather prepared bar with 7m lines for Soul 6. Unfortunately wind was 10-20 knots today, so attached 7m lines to 10m Soul.
And that was too short.
Unlike 9m lines, 7m setup doesn’t fit the rhytm of my curving turns at all.
Also in jumps it was awkward to redirect before landing.

But the kite itself behaved properly. No tip tucking, no overflying, no power peaks crossing power zone.
Unlike LEI’s, turning speed looks independent to line length and maybe that is main reason of my dissatisfaction.

I can imagine my kite hitting the drink with speed limited enough to be on a safe side, as the distance for kite acceleration is so short.
Also gybe downloop is pretty easy.

Theoretically lines length should be proportionall to kite area square root. Providing 9 m lines are good for 10 m kite, lines for 6m kite should be:
9*(6/10)^(1/2)=6,97
Hope above rule is valid and my 7m will fit 6m Soul and will play in harmony with my carvings alike 9/10 setup.

Looking forward for 20+ weather to let you know the outcome.
Tadeusz

Given that I have a Concept Air Wave 4.5 that I love for hydrofoiling wave riding, I'm also trying to get a feeling as close as possible to a wave foil kite from my Soul 6.
So 2 questions (specific for Soul 6):
1) Which line length will work better for this scope? (@flying grandpa, any updates from your tests) I would try something around 12-10 m
2) Did anyone play with PMAs?
Hopefully, Armin will chime in......

A few days ago I had a chance to play in small waves (1,5 m, foiling with ketos wave XL) with the Soul 6 and 13-18 knts.
Jumping from 21m lines to 12mlines made a huge difference. The donkey kick while passing in powerzone was drastically reduced. Still there as compared to my 4.5 Concept Air wave, but definitively manageable. Kite power was obviously reduced but still enough for jumping and free riding.
Overall very happy with 12m lines... next time will test 9m lines!

Armin recommended me to pull each PMA one knot without the last one in the tip!

:?: You mean for both upper and lower skins? Why?

If same "effect" is asked for. Square root of areas are lengths. In this case essential length is wingspan/tow point separation.

:) Ok, meaning to increase camber a bit. Then you might consider to do same (small) adjustment to the mixer as well.

There is a lot of possibilities to adjust.

What would this accomplish exactly? I'm curious about messing with mine but would like a better understanding first.

9m Lines are really short. But it shows the potential of the SOUL at short lines even with that radical short lines. For most 12-17m is short enough.

Have fun and I hope to see some picture of you.
Yes, thats true.
9m lines on 6m Soul didn't worked for me at all.
Felt weird. I couldn't find correct timing in jumps and carvings.

So strange, as I liked a lot 9m lines on 10m Soul.

Boa Vista offshore dirty winds are very gusty and full of luls.

I will take part at FoilBoa charity event (circumnavigation around Boa Vista) end of this year.

This asks for a versatile kite good in high steady winds on the onshore side of the island, and gusty conditions on the offshore. Would like to take my preferable Soul 10m on 9m lines for 10+ wind.

Will post here few pictures/movies after the event.

Tadeusz
