Are you saying we should agree with pimping?
Check AL reply’s, watch for his language in anything related to Soul. He’s got agenda and for sure it’s suspicious. But what would we know....

It’s not pimping when it’s true. My agenda is that the Soul is fantastic, really a leap in foil kite tech and yes I’m pretty excited about it.
Better than you downunder who bashed on something you never tried, and continue to do so even now. Funny is those of us who have tried both know you are just full of it. Wonder what your “agenda” is.

This thread appears to be mostly opinion of people who have only test one of these 2 kites (not both). There's no doubt that both these kites are at the top of their class, but do we have any more back-to-back tests to compare differences between these 2 kites?

I usually ride the chrono, v3 9m. Have also flown souls 10s and 12s back to back.
There were 2 things I didnt like about the soul compared to the chrono:
- Soul turns slowly, it affects the way you have to ride the hydrofoil and think ahead about when you want to turn around. Chrono is very responsive.
- Soul does not depower well when it is busy flying through the window. It only depowers once it gets to the edge of wind window. Very different feeling to the chronos, would say the chronos handle a lot more like LEIs.
Great kite when going in a straight line. It felt like i was getting higher angles with the soul.
So basically, not a freeride kite for my style. I choose chrono or hyperlink for lighter wind and peak when it gets windier.
Hope it helps you. No affiliation either way. A demo would tell you all you need to know.

Well that sucks. You just spelled out why I failed in my very first venture into foil kites (a 12m Soul purchase) after 12 years of LEI. Sold the 12m after 4 sessions, and now going to try an 8m. All freestyle foil riding

Let me be sarcastic here - since foil kites last for so damn long, you must have lost no value on resale, right?
And second comment is that from foilkites crowd perspective those deficiencies are “features” and you just need to learn to enjoy the pain.
But also you contributed to sales of foils and partially funded future development of wings which look beautiful, to say the least.
Every damn model release is revolutionary and a breakthrough, sure they are.

Not too terrible... about $50 cost per ride, 4 rides. Better than a Tesla.

Personally, I think the larger souls 12m and above have too short a bar on them. They need a bit more turning capability.
The smaller ones are insane, I have a mate who has an 8m and he has been 20m on it so far in less than ideal conditions. I think they are drastically different size for size.
I demoed the 15 to potentially replace my sonic 15m and didn't get on with it so decided to keep my sonic (14.9m highest jump @ 110kg)
I am interested in a 10 soul to sit between my 10 edge and 15 sonic, maybe the 12 would be better, will have to see.
I have flown the Chrono v1, v2 and v3 and they are all excellent kites but don't have the performance of the sonic as far as I can tell.
The soul is an excellent kite which you can give to any kiter who is half decent and they will really enjoy it, the launches are a lot easier than the sonic, that's for sure. Also the relaunch.

^^^i agree each size Soul is very different. Also turning speed depends on how you have your lines setup. Remember the Soul likes 2cm shorter steering lines.
The Soul is a grunty, high performing foil and it matches my style fantastically. I love looping my 8m while others really dislike the surge it produces. To me this allows you to rig smaller on the hf and I use it during frequently on transitions.
I’ve hit 19 meters on my 15m and this was with a 50cm bar. You do have to be more aggressive on the bar compared to a Sonic but it’s just something to adapt to.
Have a new 10m waiting for me at home. Can’t wait to see how that size flies. I think the best feature of these Souls is they are great for me on BOTH a twintip and hydrofoil. 90% of my kiting is while traveling and having such a diverse kite is golden.
