A15 or Aurora II?

Postby GTC » Mon Sep 10, 2018 3:59 pm

Hi all,

I'm considering acquiring a Pansh kite for increasing my kiting days. I am hesitating between the Aurora II or the A15EM. Maybe you can help me choosing the right model.

I weigh 72 kg and mainly ride a surfboard and TT, but considering an HF soon.
I don't need to kite in 7 knots days. If I can kite well powered when it's 10-12 knots I'll be more than happy.
In my area light winds are constant and steady. So no lulls or extreme gusts.

I was thinking in a 15m. My other kites are LEI 12, 9 and 7.

Regards and thanks in advance!

You are at the border between 18 and 15m. You may not want to kite 7knots but you will be able to and lower when you get HF. An 18m will serve you better before HF and you could later get a 12m to complement it. The gap between LEI 12m and 18m foil is big. A15 is easier and better for surf. Aurora 2 is more performance. I recommend ultralight.

foilholio, what's the low end difference between ultralight and regular.?...obviously UL is less durable so perhaps regular cloth is better for inexperienced kiters

Not much, 1knot if you are lucky, it is more a lighter kite becomes more enjoyable and easier to keep flying.
