It looks like normal SMC based on the new pictures released. Would be nice if they stated what matrix material they are using though.
Do not confuse it with forged carbon process by ACSL used in high-end cars and golf clubs.

It looks like there's some manufacturing/destructiblily issues with the new north foil. Saw this on facebook where a guy softly hit a sandbank on his first run. I don't know why they'd use that composite instead of a cnc'ed alu fuselage other than it's cheaper to pump a mold full of resin.

Yeah,
I guess a piece of wood would not break like that. Yeah, blame it to the resin formula at.al
Shame on you North.

Must have been a big hit or very low quality carbon work. The pull out force of those tapex type inserts if mounted correctly is very high.
Maybe the screws were also run too far in, but North could of course have a bottom hole that extends a fair bit beyond the insert.

Also the mounting screws could have been designed to be further apart: it looks like the distance between the first and the third hole is less than half of the wing chord length:

Wow...quite a blow for North....first the funky design with the rails (and of course killing the rebel) and now this.....from the vid it doesnt look like the area of contact is rather small compared to others...plus the winglets facing down doesnt help?

I clearly remember Sky Solbach saying that inserts were stainless steel in one video. Here I see brass inserts? Better than Aluminium on Steel I guess, but still. Just about to drop some money on one but have asked dealer for clearer picture on current batch.

I would prefer brass inserts rather then stainless steel. There is something known as contact corrosion. Screws and bolds tend when made out of high grade stainless to this. Often you find this when you mount your straps on you bidi. A small burr, sand or a not correct 90° position, sometimes you hear a small squeek and bolt and nut are like welded together.
This is the only positive I see on the design and even this has not been made by purpose I guess. All mold injected parts with coils use this. The teeth prevent the coils to turn within the plastic and there is also a small ridge to prevent the coil to be pulled out under force.
tks

??? Most brands have had problems with their first foils. Why wait for North to experiment again when their are dozens of brands with foils that have been sorted for years ...

Has North missed critical design issues AGAIN?

It will be interesting to see if more of this F wing attachment problem becomes available.
