I might try to make it to skyline, but we're lucky to have good terrain right here in the San Juans. I live in Ridgway, CO.

Staying on the ground is going to be faster most of the time. The exception would be if there were terrain features like a cliff or boulders in the way.

Gliding is fun and a part of winter kiting that is great to add to your arsenal, but non-essential to racing.

BTW, plummet, you are correct when you say that jumping on the snow is essentially the same as on the water. However, gliding as shown in the video is NOT a jump, it is a different technique and is more akin to paragliding than jumping.
