RRD Cotan wrinkle problem.

Postby nikalaitzian » Wed Mar 18, 2015 9:31 pm

I just got my brand new COTAN 5'4" and after one hour in a choppy mushy waves i've noticed some strange wrinkles to the under surface of the board.I pressed them and they are not delaminated.I m afraid that is going to delaminate after a while.Besides the aesthetic look :( ..
Does anyone noticed the same to his COTAN?

Ps. I ride ONLY strapless and i weight 82 kg.

yeah that's a typical rrd surfboard
I am curious what rrd will say. (probably won't accept warranty issue).
My rrd barracuda has the same after couple of sessions and still holds after a year...
salerosa 3 years before didn't have this issue except dents all over, but was way heavier than current models.

How the cotan feels by the way?

As for the feeling,I still working on it but definatly feels loose with the quad setup.probably I ll switch to thruster if I keep it :(

future of selling? it cost new almost 900 euros complete with carbon fins etc... and I bought it after 4 months only 250 :) (happy owner)

if you keep it write a review... I am curious if the thruster setup is still skatety.. what size did you buy? (as we are almost same weight)

Those look like stress cracks.

I would be surprised that would be warrantied but you never know. Construction quality from some brands has been really lacking these days.

It looks to me to be cracks in the resin layer due to flex. The resin layer maybe too thick. If the cracks extend into the glass then its a structural problem and the board will fail.

these cracks are common in cheap popout boards. They do bad glass jobs and cover it with a thick sanding- and topcoat. And because it's to thick it cracks , easy like that.
