Anyone who is type A is always busy. I'm very type A, so anything effort that allows me more time on the water I'm all for. So I finally decided to buy an electric pump so that I can rig while the kite is being pumped up. Also, I don't need the extra pump work out, I'd rather save the energy for the water.
After looking at options, there are a ton of SUP sites that have recommendations. I settled on the Seamax Blue Portable Electric Air Pump 1 - 8.5 PSI. About $200 and comes with a battery.
So, simply put, it's a game changer for me. I shave off probably 3-5 minutes of pump time each session, and multiply that by 2 if you have to change kites. I take my kite out, attach it to my bag, connect the hose, press start, rig everything, and by the time I'm ready the kite is full of air. Probably take 5 minutes for my 14M, 3 minutes for my 9M (I think). It's a two stage pump. Not that loud and who cares. You set to desired PSI and it automatically turns off. I can probably get 8-15 pumps per charge, but honestly don't know. I probably weighs 10 lbs, but I have a new bag system that's worked perfectly so no problems there.
Pros
Shaves time off of setup
Save energy for water
Particularly nice when you have to pump up multiple kites
Somewhat rugged
Cons
No battery gauge
One more electronic to fuss with
A little heavy
I have to modify the hose to fit my valve
Worried about sand issues and warranty
Improvements
Battery gauge
Make IP65 or higher
Make a little tougher, plastic seams cheap
If you can make it faster great, but pretty good as is
