I have the 8 and 6 2018 but gather the are pretty much like the 2017.
The 6 has good power, for a 6.
I think you could go with a 3m gap. I guess it depends on how powered you would be willing to ride the 9.

I've read that maybe the 8 is the sweet spot though....

Unless the 6 is like a 7 I think the gap is too big - at least what those I know who has tried, has experienced, and all has changed to less gap.

Why not get a 7 and 5 or 7 and 6 instead ? (if you hardly ever use your 5)

the 7m was good from 20 mph
being quite a big bloke i was wondering
9m 15-22 then on to the 6??
in 2015 the 9 was over powered very quick , pulled hard

Why not go 9-7 then, if minimalistic ?

Will really not recommend 9-6 for a skilled waverider.

Or change both, more expensive though, and go 8-6

Then you can get a 10 later, if you need some lightwind gear (or not)....

Yup, +1
3m gap is ok for free riding but not really for waves. For sure you can do it but there will be lots of times you would want to be on the ‘other’ kite.

Hmm, not sure I can agree with some of the comments here and wonder if they've ridden the different size Neo's? I weigh 90kgs, ride in coastal waves on a directional and have found a 3m gap on the Neo's to be very good. I've owned a quiver of 2016 Neo's (12,9 & 7m) and now own 2018 Neo's (12, 9 & 6m). I use the 12m in 14-19 mph winds, 9m in 20-29 mph, and the 6m in 30-40 mph winds on a directional. Seems to work great. On a foil I can obviously use these same kites in lower winds. What I found was that the 7m Neo is powerful and was not enough of a gap down from the 9m when the winds are blowing well over 30mph. Ymmv, but I think you'll be good with the 9m to 6m gap.
