Thanks for all the replys. I bought brand new I can possibly just switch it out for a 12 really quick, it'll only take about a week if you all think the 10 is too small. I went with the wave sst slingshot after doing my hw on kites, a lot of instructors put their beginners on these for the reason that it's extremely durable and able to recover after the kite hits water easily. I know i'll be doing quite a few of those before anything.
So i'll ship the 10 back and order the 12 for the spring/summer season. Should only take a week.
Thanks again everyone,,

Airconnolly if we have not met before and you want some folks to kite with we normally do greenport jetty, nassau point or wherever its good we have plenty of boats.

Is this active. I was out on Cupsogue yesterday and there were 2-3 kites ripping. I have a trainer kite that i've been practicing with on the beach that i bought from Hampton water sports and i need to get in the water with the right people. I live in Wading River and can meet up anywhere. Let me know how I can get set up to try and break into the group.

A bunch of people on longisland, looks like you need to take lessons but if you want to meet up, on NW wind there are kiters in West meadow beach. It's not a great beginner spot though.

I agree with JeromeL. There are quite a few kiters out here, but I don't know any that teach or want to lend out their gear. The best way to learn is to master a trainer kite then go on vacation and take lessons. The wind is usually pretty good here in the fall, but not consistent enough. It's better to go to the DR or another spot for a week and know you can get on the water. Plus lessons are a lot cheaper.

How much did you spend on your trainer? I was out fishing yesterday and seen those guys flying around and I decided I want to get into this aswell. Looking into lessons but seems real expensive. Don't know much about the sport at all.

Probably Napeague, though not sure if its deep enough for a foil.
