Indeed a 9m is now in the line up apparantly. I heard they tweaked the canopy layout to aviod a little flapping behind the leading edge if sheeted out a little too much. Bridle points revised for when the kite is really lit up to maintain shape. AND scuff guards for the rear pigtails to protect the leading edge for riders who load up the klite. A 9m and 12m shouyld be a nice combo.
Okay, the 2012 Rally demos have been out for a week or two at least, any feedback from people who have flown them? Puleeeeease?? :jump: :jump:

The comment above discusses a revised bridle point...from the pictures below of 2011 vs. 2012, I don't notice any difference. Could be too minor of a change to tell as I know a minor bridle change can have a significant impact. Also can't see here, due to the angle, but what changes to canopy were made? I never noticed flapping behind the LE, but I suppose the canopy layout *could* have just been to tighten up that fabric so there was nothing too flap. Hmmmm....

I'm guessing the only significant change is the new 9M size. That's okay, it's a solid kite.

Here is a video from XL on the 2012 Rally;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=In7Snc3U ... ata_player

I think they need to give Chris a couple shots of espresso before he makes the next product launch video. ;)

This video doesn't say much, though. The only concrete changes I can see are the 9M, new bag color, new bar color and scuff guards on the tips. The canopy changes mentioned in this thread and in the video are still too vague. Chris mentions a beefier trailing edge. What does that man? He also comments that it has less tendency to fold. It would be nice to see specific design changes that contribute to any change in flight characteristics.

Still, cool to see some timely footage on the new kites! Thanks XL. Will be good to see a SS produced video as they usually tech out a bit more on the exact changes.

According to the vid, the 23in x 27mtr bar is red on the Slingshot logo which is the right hand side of the bar, and white on the left hand side (normally black/red)

Perhaps white is the new port red, Slingshot always pushing it :cool2:

Ew, the red and yellow thing going on with the bar is kind of gross. Red and white looked nice!

Pictures and details up now on the Slingshot website;

2012 Rally
New for 2012 will be the addition of a 9 meter for ultimate quiver building potential and added Ballistic Aramid scuff guard reinforcement to prevent wing tip wear.
Think the bridle/canopy mods were just rumor or maybe they don't bother mentioning "tweaks" in the specs?
