JN uses A
Just changed to Kookproof on their latest Kites PD3, Mr. Fantastic and DaVinci Bat SLE.
I use little minipigtails too in order to connect my bar to all my kites...

system B makes more sense to me as it gives you the opportunity to tune the length of the backlines.
LF uses B (colorcoded)

Toby wrote:since I am fighting for a standardized kook proof system on all bars/kites, I would like to hear from everyone, which brand has which system?

Which should be the best? Which does the majority already use? Which brands don't have any kook proof system?

Let's solve this problem!

Let's use this to make things clear:

Talking about the end of the flying lines coming from the bar, just where you attach it to the kite.

A:
back lines: knot
front lines: eye

B:
back lines: eye
front lines: knot

C:
no kook proof

Here I will list what we have found out so far:

Cabrinha: B
Core: B
Eclipse: B
Naish: A
Nobile: B
North: A
Ocean Rodeo: A
Takoon: A
Hi, can anyone tell about Ozone, Fone and Blade (A or B)?

Toby,

Thanks for reawakening this thread.

I will use this opportunity to give a report on the method of making lines "100% Kook Proof", where a ring and a chain link are used on one of the rear lines, combined with system "B" where the other rear line ends at the kite with a "loop" connector.

After almost 7 years of using this system, on 3 generations of kite styles, I have had no incidents where the system caused problems of any sort... no bending of metal, no tangling problems... just complete success in preventing kitemares which can result from inadvertent reversal, right to left, of the rear lines.

Here is the link to the discussion of this modification to the one rear line connection device.

I'd like to point out that kook proof lines do not address all the rigging issues...

They make no provision for four clear untangled paths bar to kite...

I'd venture one's "faith" in a so called Kook proof pig and loop is the first step in relinquishing your control over your own safety...

I have a rigging system on here somewhere which takes faith out of the equation, and replaces it with a hands on self checking procedure...

Anyway....

Be careful out there, especially if your a person of faith.

God and the wind just don't give a flying f***...

I prefer slingshot's version of B system, which I learned in a pinch also works as an A system, because of how the pigtails are attached to the line ends.
Honorable mention to ozone which has this function in the rear lines at least.
Like a few others here I don't believe "kook-proof" is a concept to bet your life on.
Pre-flight visual check lines every time!

I'd also like to point out, that any visual check comes after the fact...

And is also subject to human error...

Nothing beats a self checking system (do it right, right off) for shurity .

Now you know your A, B, sees...

tell me what you thing of these...

Is there any way to connect these

Image

to a RRD kite? I have 2 bars but they both use carbinha style connection points, the opposite of the RRD connections.

I dont really want to alter the bar because i use it for another kite. Does anyone have any experience with anything like this??
