Postby Do-it » Wed Nov 18, 2015 2:29 pm

Just wondering what the life expectancy of a harness is?

My dakine Fusion has almost 200 sessions over 4 years and still has life left in it. That's about a dollar a session, not bad!!!

Yeah, I'm having serious issues with my current gear and wanted to hear from other people before I turn the flame thrower on.

wetsuits and harnesses age about the same. i'm happy if i can make either last a full 2 years. I hear of people making theirs last for half a decade both wetsuits and harnesses so go figure

What the hell are you people doing to your harnesses that they only last a year? I treat mine like crap and I've still got about 6 years of weekly usage (50+ sessions per year) out of my current one and figure that I might need to replace it next year. The one before that lasted 8 years before I had to change it due to losing weight.

Mystic Warrior waist harness has been going strong for 4 years with no signs of wear and it's the harness I use 90% of the time. The other 10% are on my Dakine Nitrous boardshorts harness. It's done well but after 2 years the straps connecting to the spreader bar chaffed. Sent a note to Dakine and they had me ship it back and it was fixed for free under warranty. Great customer service.

Yeah! what the hell are you doing to them?

I'll add a +1 for the mystic warrior! My first one of those lasted 4 years then I sold it because I thought 4 years was a long time not because it looked stuffed. Then second Warrior harness still looks crispy after 2 years.

Maybe there is a vast difference between harness manufacturers? maybe individuals the have eaten more pies hold more power and wear harnesses faster?

On a side note. If I get 2 winters out of a wet suit without repairs I'm pleased.
