Postby c4charley » Mon Jun 29, 2009 9:35 pm

Hi there,

I currently ride on a 2009 Cabrihna Xbow 13m. I am inbetween beginner and intermediate 215lbs and 6,1'' I looking for a smaller kite, thinking of GK V-sonic vsonic 8m.

Anybody have comments on GK kites and that type?

Cheers

Charley

I have 2008 V-sonics (8, 11, 14). I believe the 2009 is almost identical except for the graphics and the bar. I think it is an excellent kite. Very stable in higher winds. Huge wind range. Easy to relaunch. Goes up wind well. Jumps well but more important to my old knees is that it has good hang and soft landings (many small kites that get you up but let you down harshly).

Construction is also very good.

Hi guys
I have the 6m and 11m Vsonic 08 and have enjoyed every minute of them.
They have a strong build, over winter my friend also has the 11m drag the kite across
broken sea ice and I was just waiting for the bang. But nothing but my hair on end,
the triple leading edge really pays off and not just on ice & snow but at the beach too.

The best part is if you have a limited budget with all the settings these kites
have, you, with a little experimentation can learn to gain more out of a single kite. By
adjusting the bridle positions. Not everyone likes tuning kites but I really enjoy being able to
fully set my gear for the conditions. The 09 models have improved adjustments for this
purpose. Though the factory default setup is great that you can just unpack and ride.

Vsonics kiteloop well and has really good lift to hang time, water relaunch is a matter of pulling
one steering line or doing a reverse launch in very light wind. Depower is just insane and
extremely stable, I can self launch by tying the chicken loop to a pole and position the kite up
flying on the windows edge. Sounds crazy, then go back unhook the chicken loop and hook in
and go. This technique is not for beginners and crowded places!!!

I weigh 75kg and I use my 11m from 5.5m/s (11knots) to 15m/s+ (30knots) my main
board is a 130x40 that is great for all conditions though I do have a 115x30 too for insane
days. The 6m is just a machine in the right hands but I am still waiting to get blown off the water
with my 11m and be forced to pump the 6m.

let me know if you need anymore info

Can you tell me the A-KPO settings you like on your 11m and 6m?

V-Sonics are about the most versatile kites I've flown. They may not be pure freestyle machines but they are excellent at just about everything else. And yeah, as mentioned........they are built tough.

The 8m is a very well behaved high wind kite. It's super stable and the range can save your bacon if the wind starts to drop. I've never even tinkered with the AKPO settings, I've just run the stock settings and it works well.

Enjoy.

No more to say for me concerning Vsonic and Trix.

The 2009 bar is great and, ergonomics and very easy to use, out and even in the water.

The good thing concerning the 08m² size Vsonic is that it gives a well balanced pressure bar to help the begeniner and intermediate to feel the kite in the air without taking a loog at it.

For A-KPO I suggest : F2-F5 with B2 from the middle to hight end wind and F2-F5 with B3 for lower wind.

For exemple to answer to Neptune, my favourite set up for any configuration is the F2-F5 with B2 for the 11m² from 18 to more 26kn.
And too, when the wind is incredybly gusty because by this way the kite will more keep its shape during "brutal and impressive" gusts.

I have been out in very light wind recently with on my 11m with settings of
F3 - F5 and I think I was on B2 but will check that. Wind was a crazy 4.5m/s
to 5m and I was still able to jump though upwind was not happening as the
tide was coming in too.

Will check my 6m but I think I am still riding it on the factory settings.

Will talk soon
Shaun
